Gezan Bayashi with Kokichi Kusano

We welcomed from Toronto: Kokichi Kusano to the MRU Conservatory, as a guest artist to teach our members and other taiko students. Several of our members studied shinobue (bamboo flute), and for the taiko workshop we learned about how Mr. Kusano structures his practice, warmups, and the taiko piece Gezan Bayashi. Gezan Bayashi is a traditional piece from Aomori Prefecture, played while descending down the mountain. We enjoyed our workshop, and look forward to working further on Gezan Bayashi and adding it to the pieces that we play together.

Thank you Kokichi!
