I'll be honest, I've never seen a lacrosse game before! So when we were asked to welcome Roughnecks fans to the playoff final game, we were all pretty excited. The Roughnecks are Calgary's NLL (National Lacrosse League) team, and we were asked to play for Game 2 (best of 3) of the NLL playoffs. The Roughnecks won Game 1, so if they won Game 2, they would win the championship!
We set up our taiko protected in the +15 level entrance to the Scotiabank Saddledome, and prepared to welcome lacrosse fans as they walked from the nearby C-train stations and parking lots. It was a packed full house, with nearly 19,000 people! Fans enthusiastically cheered us as we drummed in the entryway, and lots of walking iPhone videos. People lined up at the Will Call and Box Office turned to stare, and some people came looking out the door to see where the loud beats were coming from. After the game started, we packed up and then went to sit in the crowd to enjoy the rest of the game ourselves!
The game went into Overtime, and when the Roughnecks scored the final point, the energy in the Saddledome was incredible! We were so excited to be a part of the game!
