We were honoured to be invited to perform and teach short taiko workshops to the students at the Japanese Language School.

Established in 1975, our school has become a place where students from various backgrounds come to learn the Japanese language and culture. It is a community-based school providing opportunities and personal enrichment for all. Embracing a new language and culture is not easy but, at our school, we make learning an enriching and enjoyable experience.

After a short performance to demonstrate miyake, beta and naname songs, our members assisted our director to teach the students some very basic taiko technique and age-appropriate taiko rhythms and excerpts from easy taiko songs. We repeated several times, once for each age group, and taught all the students, from kindergarten to high school age.
