Mayor's Lunch for Arts Champions

An incredible honour for the youth taiko students to perform for the Telus Youth Arts Showcase for the 2018 Mayor's Lunch for Arts Champions.

"The Mayor’s Lunch for Arts Champions is a collaboration between Calgary Arts Development and Mayor Naheed Nenshi.

In consultation with business and cultural industry advisors, this event was developed as a new way of expanding the circle of Arts Champions in Calgary, building on the Mayor’s Luncheon for Business and the Arts’ long history of bringing together the business and arts sectors.

The Mayor’s Lunch for Arts Champions celebrates the transformative power of the arts, building momentum for the future."

We would like to thank the Consulate General of Japan in Calgary, for loaning us happi to wear for this performance. Students under the age of 21 performed on stage in the BMO Centre outside the Palomino Room, where the event took place. I was so proud of all the students, but especially grateful that my own kids were able to participate.
